I am British African and don't understand this. From my perspective it looks like we are being exploited for our national resources. Yes China has a lot of financial capital and can invest a lot of money into our country now but that doesn't mean it's going to be necessarily better in the end. China is in disagreement with many countries and a lot of them have stopped doing certain trades with them as a result. It looks like they are being opportunists and setting up trade here since they know we have a lot of natural resources, a lot of corrupt government and aren't particularly fond with the West, we should have the upper hand in trade talks but it looks like it's them who have the advantage in setting up business, mines, etc. abroad in our own country. Africa got a lot of people wanting to do business with us, the opposite for China.
I don't trust them specifically; over here they got COVID safety camps trying to seem as our saviour but in China they locked black people in their houses and blamed the virus on them. They don't seem to respect us at all since they got public museums comparing Africans to animals and I'm confused why anyone thinks it's a good idea to let them invest into our country.
China is building to be the world's strongest economy. They don't want to let Hong Kong become an independent country because soon the treaty HK and China have with the UK will expire and it will become a regular Chinese city anyway. Same with Taiwan. They are expanding territorial power and the quickest way to a colonial empire is to find the weakest country with natural resources and exploit it.
