Just recently reddit is facing lots of flack for putting money before users who make it what it is. Now, i used to use Boomplay a lot sometime back, earning points that i used back as tokens for subscription to keep ads out. It was good for finding stuff that literally was not on either Spotify or bandcamp, hell, I found lots of gems.
Sometimes traveling through Kenya, not everywhere has stable network so, just replaying recently played songs on boomplay reloads them from their cache effortlessly without the need for a network. That was perfect. Yesterday i logged in after not using it for a while and found some albums with previously no restrictions hidden behind "watch, to, play" ads, fine, I say I'll then redeem the points to override. They had been stripped to zero. Lol. I'm back to Spotify without those albums, and having to download songs which is kinda lame af.
My point is, if these companies really want the money, instead of ruining a ux people are used to, why not incorporate their bs beforehand, so that there's nothing to ruin down the line? Boomplay will definitely see a downsurge instead
