I am working on a research paper on election fraud in different government types. I am having troubling finding a definitive answer regarding the government type of Zimbabwe under Mugabe's rule. I want to know what the government type was internally but more so what type externally. They used elections to maintain some external legitimacy, but what type of government did other countries perceive them as? It seems somewhere between a one-party Socialist state and a Dictatorship.
Hope this isn't too all over the place. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

Hello folks,
Two new African related subreddits have been created for those interested:
-
- The East African Federation (Swahili: Shirikisho la Afrika Mashariki) is a proposed political union of the six sovereign states of the East African Community – Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda – as a single federated sovereign state. In September 2018 a committee was formed to begin the process of drafting a regional constitution. At 2,467,202 square kilometres (952,592 sq mi), the East African Federation would be the largest country in Africa & 10th-largest in the world.
-
- The Economic Community of West African States, also known as ECOWAS, is a regional economic union of fifteen countries located in West Africa. Collectively, these countries comprise an area of 5,114,162 km2 (1,974,589 sq mi), and in 2015 had an estimated population of over 349 million. As of February 2017, ECOWAS has 15 member states; eight of these are French-speaking, five are English-speaking, and two Portuguese-speaking.

I recently had a discussion with a group of ethopians of 25-30 years old. I was astonished that they did not know the rich history of their country. Ethopia is one of the oldest country in the world with such a rich culture and history. How come they don't know barely anything? Thanks
