For context: We are from Pakistan. My parents are in their 50s. I'm 17M and my sister will be starting uni. My mum has had a decent position in a insurance company for 23 years. My dad is a ent specialist aka a doctor for the last 20 years. We will be looking for a city with preferably a bit of our culture and a city that will have jobs, things to do. I posted earlier here and cities like Adelaide and Brisbane were recommended. What about Melbourne and Sydney. Let me know thanks you're advice would help me us alot.
Is it possible to accompany my daughter (internarional student) to Australia for a few weels while she settle in? If its possible, what visa should I applied for?
Bit of a rant about how useless optus is, got a new plan with a samsung phone and watch bundle through optus, thought I d get the pink watch for a my missus even though she has an iPhone optus told me it would connect to her phone, it doesn't. Took it back the next day to get the black version was told I can't do that cause it's been opened and to put a claim into customer care. Done that. Fast forward 3 and a half weeks later and numerous phone calls, case managers and emails and I still don't have the black watch. Was told that I have to purchase outright and they will refund me. So I go back to the original store and they say no you can't do that we'll do it a different way. Have the case manager ring me and say have you done it yet and I say no cause it's getting done a different way and he asks why I've done that. Why would I know ?!? So stressful for such a minor thing.
I'm from Los Angeles, CA and I'm considering doing a PhD in Australia, but need a few questions answered.
Assuming I received a stipen and have my PhD fully funded would that be enough to live in a city like Sydney or Melbourne by myself for 3 years?
How is public transportation in Sydney and Melbourne? I live in LA and public transportation is terrible here, you absolutely need a car to live here. Would I need a car there to get around if I was just going to the university, cafes, pubs and the beach? I used to live in London and it was easy as hell to get anywhere.
Also how is rent in these cities, is it most likely im sharing a home with other students?
Thank you for all of your help, ive always found Australia to be fascinating and would love some advice.
Moving to Australia with my family we've been deciding between both cities so as a Aussie where would you like to move to considering you have a family of 4.
