Gday, on the 14th of June, Philips announced a global recall on both sleep apnoea and mechanical ventilation devices due to -
potential impacts on patient health and clinical use related to this issue. Possible health risks include exposure to degraded sound abatement foam, for example caused by unapproved cleaning methods such as ozone, and exposure to chemical emissions from the foam material.
Sure... let's blame ozone, after all it's a bitch and it's everywhere... but then they go on to include -
High heat and high humidity environments may also contribute to foam degradation in certain regions.
Since the recall announcement, the Therapeutic Goods Administration has failed to acknowledge/confirm the recall. Their last public communication being the 18th of June.
I found out about this recall by accident after my CPAP provider sent an email announcing their profiteering intentions with 'huge discounts' ahead of the recall. All under the guise of "not for profit". I will add, I use the manufacturer's mobile app designed for data logging which includes a newsfeed and to date it has not given me notification of the recall. The investigation into which began in late April.
Anyone else heard of any class actions surrounding this? Seems like a pretty significant oversight.
Stumbled upon this last night. Fantastic bio doc about Colin Hay. Covers the men at work years, the meteoric rise to fame, the split, the copyright claim re: kookaburra sits in the old gum tree and the long slow burn as a solo artist afterwards. I found it fascinating. He's a living legend of Australian music.
20 yo female looking to get into the medical field. Which of these would be better for a caring person who struggles with social and general anxiety? Weighing benefits, pay, work life balance etc... Also wanted to look into phlebotomy but it seems there are no in person courses for far north QLD. Is there any point to distance learning for such a hands on role?
