Honestly myself I'm kinda fan of the Asian culture. However(unfortunately) I know so many Europeans and Americans that either hate or make fun out of the Asian cultures.
So it makes me curious - with all those cool Asian countries you have out there. Why would you want to move somewhere to America/Canada or Western Europe when you can just live your life the way you want it back home or simply just move from one Asian country to another?
p.s I'm talking about Asian countries such as: Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Vietnam etc...
The fine compromise between Japan and China with unique culture, character and flair?
To me, this almost strikes me as a form of self-racism or self-hating of one's heritage. I'm a millennial so perhaps Gen Z is different, but my generation often makes fun of people who are from Asia, calling them terms like "fobs" and laughing at any Asian Americans having interest in Asian culture as "liking fobby things." Mocking of accents is also common, we've all seen comedians, YouTubers, and TikTokers from my generation who have made their entire careers off of doing fake accents and playing racist caricatures of Asian characters. I was born and raised in the US but my parents gave me an Asian name, which I like and am proud of, but I have been mocked for my name growing up, not predominantly from white or black people, but from other Asian Americans. They would say my name is so fobby and why didn't my parents give me a "normal" name like Kevin or Jason. I currently have a girlfriend who is from China and, once again, most of the rude questions I have gotten about her were not from white or black people but from other Asian Americans. It's not uncommon for people to ask me if she speaks English, if the two of us speak English or Chinese more in our free time (why this matters is also beyond me), and also tons of questions about her political views as if she represents the People's Republic of China. I think a lot of this stems from the belief that being being American is superior to being from Asia, so Asian Americans somehow feel as if they are better than those "foreigners."
