Ok I'm American, a six-pack in, and playing Civ 6. Who the fuck does John Curtin think he is and why won't he accept my offer of friendship? I thought you were a gregarious people.
I came across this post of redesigned Australian / State flags and they look really nice (Link below) - it made me wonder why Australia needs the Union Jack on our flag? Other commonwealth countries like Canada & India don't have it.
The Union Jack pays 0 tribute to the history of Australia (apart from British Colonialism but that occurred before Federation in 1901, so I'm not counting it)

Hellooo! I’ve started a project where I get a postcard/letter from every country in Europe, now, this is all good but I’d like to broaden the project. Would anyone from Australia like to send me a letter about life there? You can send me poetry, a drawing maybe a story about some urban legend there. or just a plain letter with a recipe for some food! Australia looks like a beautiful place that I’d love to visit one day! If you’re interested in sending me a letter (I’ll send one in return) for my project then please let me know! Sorry if this is annoying/classed as spam, or seems unreasonable, I didn’t mean for it to come across like that! Thanks in advance, have a great day! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Why would it make sense for example for a principal or head teacher of a school review the performance of a staff member? What if all your coworkers are cliquey and just hate you? Hypothetically speaking, in as parallel universe, what if someone was working at the workplace from hell where this type of attitude was present?
A couple disclaimers:
I was born in Melbourne (Box Hill, specifically) and am ethnically Chinese myself, but left when I was a baby.
I just came back after finishing 14 days of hotel quarantine in Sydney, so I've seen very little but have had a chance to compare the two cities.
Melbourne's CBD definitely seems much more Asian than Sydney's and my only guess as to why is the location of the universities. I've also read that the neighborhoods below Sydney's CBD are more heavily Asian.
I know that Sydney actually has a higher percentage of Asians than than Melbourne does, so this is really a question about concentration and dispersion.
Of note as well is that even the topography of Melbourne's CBD feels Chinese, whereas Sydney feels Australian. For the past 12 years I've lived in the US, and whereas somewhere like New York City actually exceeds Melbourne in terms of immigrants as a percentage of the population, it clearly looks and feels American even in areas mainly populated by immigrants (albeit no one immigrant group is predominant in NYC). In contrast, Melbourne's CBD sort of looks like it was built by a southern Chinese developer, like it's a greener and more spacious Guangzhou.
Am I making sweeping conclusions after only having been here for a few days? There's no intention here of making any disparaging judgments; I'm just curious.
I'm a first time homebuyer. The place I am buying is currently being used as a rental by the former owners.
I intend to simply move into my new house that I am buying, but people are living there and the seller/landlord says they aren't allowed to get rid of them.
What are my rights here? They were given 3 months notice and are still there. I just want to live in my house.
