Got a question: I viewed a property in QLD (not an auction) and the agent said an offer's already been made "pending finance". Due to this, apparently it's illegal for me to make a counter-offer until some cooling off period for the other guy's offer (no contract is signed yet). The other guy is having issues getting finance, so I can't make my offer until a week's passed. What's all this about? Why can't the buyer just accept whoever comes up with the money first and signs the contract?
[Edit] Fair Trading NSW talks about "gazumping" here:
But it doesn't mention it's illegal - it just says multiple offers can be made prior to signing of the contracts. Is QLD different?
Even MortgageChoice's website says gazumping isn't illegal:
So why is this QLD agent not accepting my offer?

Hi all does anyone know the poem from the end of the movie Idiot Box? I’m trying to find it but for the life of me I can’t. If you know all the poems, even better.

Hey guys I’m from Sydney , My parents and I are looking for a new place. So it’s just 3 of us. So we happy with a 330+ block! We have two options we are keen for Marsden park and box hill (one in Sydney) Just depends on the house plan. We do have new options where the houses are already almost built so it’s kinda like home and land but not really (idk how to explain it lol)
Anyways just wanted to ask convenience wise and just the whole location in general Which seems better out of the two.
I only have 2 years left of uni so I guess something which will be convenient for me to get to city as I won’t be driving there! I could possibly drive up until rouse hill.
This is also another reason why we are happy with a 330+ block as there’s no need for a really big house (unless we somehow get one within the budget). We are looking at other locations too such as Blacktown and such but Marsden park seems to have caught our eye as well as box hill! So far Marsden seems more developed I guess. But apparently box hill is gonna be more better. If anyone can give their preferences thanks !!
(Also Yes I still live with my parents, different culture and I’m gonna probably do my masters after u finish my degree and won’t be moving out until I have a proper foundation. Just explaining in case some get confused as to why I’m in uni and still with my parents lol)
