I find it interesting that the most common phrase is Asian, or at least the stereotypical southeast Asian one. The other one would be Indian, which is also offensive, or at least in my eyes. I feel the word “Asian” is always used by everyone from the US except for people of ethnic backgrounds of a country from Asia because they take pride in their country, not their continent. I also think that because China is such a large country, a lot of people’s second guess behind Asian (continent), is Chinese (largest country). And I feel like when something happens from a big country like that, people of Southeast Asian backgrounds are being shit on because dumb people think all Asians are Chinese, and all Chinese made the Coronavirus and spreaded it. Also, I have nothing against Chinese people but the Chinese government can take 2 🖕 and go to hell. I’m just saying that because we’re being categorized into one phrase/category, we are quickly assumed to be from a country that has some attention for the better or worse. Furthermore, after being called Asian first almost every time, I’ve started to think people say it because they are too lazy to ask what country are you from. That to me is also disrespectful because it shows how little someone cares about who you are, and they don’t wanna take a 30 seconds to learn about a person ethnicity, which we all take pride in, or so it’s taught to be so. I also think the same thing applies to people straight up being called Indian. Yes, India is a huge country, but it isn’t the only country, there are plenty more countries, some of which are fairly large. I think people are betting on assuming someone’s ethnicity rather than being polite and asking because they honestly don’t care about us. They look and at us and say “You’re Asian.” Or “You’re Indian.” It shows the lack of respect we have in the US. And I know some of you guys are gonna complain about how Asians never stood with other minorities in solidarity. So, let me talk about the Vietnamese. The Vietnam War really sparked outrage in the US. Mostly because people thought that because Vietnam wasn’t their country, there was no need to support them. And god bless those soldiers who were fighting for another nation’s freedom. Anyways, people were never on board, and after they learned the real number of troops, they were furious. This definitely was a source of major hate towards Vietnamese, and the racism was real. Furthermore, the immigrants didn’t even know English, and a lot of them probably were recovering from traveling the sea on rowboats and watching their loved ones die right next to them. The racism, language barrier, and grief was probably why they couldn’t. And if you guys said we were silent, you could probably hear us, you just couldn’t care to understand what we were saying. Today, I don’t see anything about racism towards “Asians”. I heard my shitbag say that it was because we make a good money. Sorry, but the truth is that a lot of immigrants from the continent of Asia are poor. I’m blessed to have my parents making decent income, but a lot of my friends are on welfare and government housing. But taking that aside, why do you think “Asians” get good jobs? It’s because we worked hard, and we are taught to be respectful and to take our education seriously. I’m sorry, but this some secret formula the aluminate of Asia came up. This is just some common sense and if a child who is raised in pretty fair conditions and isn’t taught good moral values, then the parents are probably shitbags. Some could argue that our need to survive pushed us, but I would agree that the good life and being spoiled left some people to be completely lazy. It’s like a race between a Lambo and a Prius. The driver has that luxury and indefinite advantage, but he’s been so comfy that he decides to drive at like 30 mph because he doesn’t give a shit about the race since he already has a Lambo. Sorry to go on for so long, but people have lately been advocating and protesting against racism towards African Americans, racism towards Mexicans, LGTBQ+, and hate towards Gender Equality. I thought that if we are gonna discuss some serious topics, then why are we leaving out racism against “Asians”?
Edit: Also, our baby faced leader being racist and unsupportive of protesters doesn’t help, I know.
