Hi everyone,
I've had an extremely frustrating month since moving into an apartment I've started renting in Melbourne.
As per lease agreement, I asked and got permission to connect to fiber to the curb NBN at the property, which is ready. It turns out that there is no phone line socket for the NBN connection device to connect to. The landlord insists that the phone line is not needed to connect to NBN, we could go with Foxtel and connect through their cable, which is apparently installed in the apartment. We weren't made aware of any of this prior to moving in or when we asked for permission to connect to NBN.
We are now with a wireless broadband instead. Thankfully we get good service and don't game or download tons of gigabites to make this a good alternative.
But I'm wondering whether as a renter, we have any right to ask for compensation and if yes, to what degree? We have had to go into work all month even though it's more than recommended by our employers to work from home. There's nothing in the lease agreement that specifically states anything on this matter!
Thank you for your input!!
