As a South Asian, I say this with a heavy heart. Compared to the east, western culture had the most influence even today to the point where most eastern countries have little traces of their culture left in their society. Examples
You could mention colonialism, but people like what they like hence why eastern food is one of the only things that hasn’t died out.
-Music- In most East Asian countries, they have no trace of their traditional sound/instruments in any of their music and very rarely do you get the occasional fusion. Western classical is more popular in China/Korea/Japan - kpop is basically Americanised including the style of singing. Eastern music tends to be more spiritual and meditative which I enjoy but most don’t.
Sure India has stuck to its root, but even it’s starting to become heavily westernised.
Is western music superior?
-Fashion- I understand that all fashion changes, but you can trace back western fashion and see its gradual evolution whether it’s suits on men or hip hugging dresses on women. Japan, China, and Korea don’t have any hints of their ancient or traditional clothing or patterns in any of their modern clothes - sure they may have the odd festival where kimonos are used.
I know they may not be practical, but traditional clothing can be reinvented to be semi traditional and casual, just to show gradual progression and evolution of the country. Even many of the East Asian weddings are westernised with white dresses.
Many more things include architecture, arts ancient army power etc.
