We are happy to announce that we have yet another AMA for you! It will happen next Thursday, Nov. 21, 4 pm CET.
Our guests:
Sarah Mardini is a Syrian refugee living in Germany. She fled Syria in 2015 via Turkey. Her journey received a lot of international attention since she and her sister, both professional swimmers, dragged the boat with 18 people on board towards Lesvos when the engine of the boat died. She and her sister were honoured with the most important german media award and their journey will be released as a movie in the future. Sarah is studying politics and art in Berlin on a scholarship.
Seán Binder was born in Germany, but raised in Ireland. He studied political science, economics, sociology and philosophy.
Sarah and Seán both volunteered with ERCI in search-and-rescue organisation assisting refugees and other migrants on lesvos before they were imprisoned in 2018 on charges of spying, people smuggling and belonging to a criminal organisation. Their case received a lot of internation attention and they were eventually released on bail in December 2018, after having spent over 100 days in prison. The case against them is still ongoing, even though humanitarian organizations and newspapers consider at least some of the charges to be proven wrongful.
Please do not ask questions in this thread, those belong into the actual AMA thread that will be posted on Thursday around noon.
