Biography
Born in Brazil and raised all over (US, UK, France), I have lived in London, Paris, Doha, Istanbul… and have witnessed breaking news unfold right in front of my eyes in the Middle East, Africa and Europe, including the War in Libya and the refugee crisis.
Over the past two years, I have been given the extraordinary opportunity to cover some of the most important stories gripping Europe, like Brexit and the Yellow Vests.
I am particularly interested in migration and integration issues and was the only broadcast journalist aboard the Aquarius rescue vessel when, in 2018, Italy decided to close its ports to migrants and refugees picked up in the Mediterranean Sea. My work was made into a documentary titled 10 DAYS AT SEA: The Real Story of the Aquarius.
I also filmed and edited a 30-minute documentary ESCAPING LIBYA about the reality of life in Libya for migrants and refugees trying to reach Europe. Over a 10-day period, I spent time with foreigners who had relocated to the country in the hope of crossing the world’s deadliest migration route.
My latest project took me to northeastern Syria to meet former European nationals stuck in detention camps for alleged associations with the so-called Islamic State. They live in squalid conditions with virtually no medical care, sanitation or clean water. Among them are thousands of children. Europe’s Children of ISIS is the result of over one year of research and aired last week on Euronews!
