ABC is reporting about 71 minute commutes in Sydney, with other cities increasing their average times to get to work in recent years.
If there are 4 lanes going each way on major freeways, and in peak hour one direction can be almost empty. Why not have a 75/25 split favouring the peak direction in the morning then swapping in the afternoon rather than a 50/50 split? I mean, there are lanes sitting there doing nothing and the ability to use them to increase capacity of the in-demand direction by 50% right now.

It's been 8 weeks since I applied, I've had $0 in my bank account for half of that. I'm 5days in arrears on my rent. My phone is about to get cut so I won't even be able to log-in to mygov and check the progress. I've already accepted a job offer, but it doesn't start for another two weeks and I don't even have money for suitable pants and shoes for work.
I waited on the phone for an hour today to be told that I don't qualify for urgent processing for another 7days until I officially get served an eviction notice. They mentioned that not being able to afford medical treatment was also grounds for urgent processing, but when I mentioned that my treatment was antidepressants and a psychologist's bill (which I have to pay for because I missed my appointment because I was getting fined for fare evading btw) she said it was for "real medicine" for "real, diagnosed illnesses." This is so fucked. This comes just a few months after being denied a crisis payment when I left an abusive partner a few months back because apparently $500 to my name (despite the fact that I also had credit card debt and didn't have a safe place to sleep) means I'm fine and don't need help.
