Democracy, as a rule of the people , entails the citizens' active participation in the politics of the country. This requires that citizens be kept informed at all times inorder to make informed decisions. Whether it's in internal affairs or external affairs. Can a secretive government whose internal and external dealings are clouded in mystery truly be said to be democratic? Can the system be said to be participative when I as a citizen don't know that the person who is said to lead the country has closed meetings with regards to privatisation of public properties? Do the people of Ethiopia not deserve to know the terms and conditions of these things and their own benefits? Should they not be allowed to calculate their advantages and disadvantages in this? Is this not a country you plan to hand over to the next generation? And should the people not know the consequences that might arise from this, what is expected from them and what they are to expect? Are we supposed to trust a government that was some years back torturing it's people to serve other countries? Now it will enslave the people without giving them options or self made decisions. Should a temporary transitional government even be allowed to do that? If within the coming two years election a new government decides to go another way what would happen? Or is every opposition bought out too?
May be unwittingly the people could be excited but how so with what promise?? How do they know what is expected of them?? They don't even know what really happened this year. Or what it was meant to achieve. The government is already attempting to displace people in the capital through demolishing houses it deems illegally built which is something some are standing against. So creating homelessness of citizens to accommodate foreigners? Where do you think this is? This is every thing the Kings fought against. Do you have no footing in history? Is that not what you consider to build the present and even think of the future ? Are the diaspora part of this plan? If there is nothing bad in it why is it shrouded in secrecy? I think the people need to know exactly what is being done. So this was part of the decentralisation game? This is what happens, the regional heads hold internal responsibility while the PM takes on foreign affairs wholly as if that is his sole purpose and not his people while the people bicker about petty things. How repulsive is a government that sells its people like that and what fools are such people? I have no issues about this but why is it not made transparent? We can barely trust the government in ethnic affairs. Let's hope our fortune won't be the fate of the Mexicans in 'soldiers of fortune'. I have a bad feeling about this. Are you even calculating and carefully considering this carefully? Did you consider what took place in Iran in the 50s and 60s? Or did you jump in this as most other things out of greed without foresight. You jumped in to socialism they taught you then what happened? You jumped to a tribalism they designed for you what happened? Why don't you stop and think? China could manage this because its population is the size of Africa's. But what do we have? Once these people hold assets in other countries pulling them out will be difficult. The least you can do is be open and transparent. This also makes me question the events of the year even more.
