Fellow Aussie battlers, I call on you in my time of need.
As a retail worker I am at the mercy of my employer when it comes to radio station choices and WSFM seems to be the station of choice. On paper this is a fine choice for retail but in reality WSFM has had the same songs at about the same time every day since I started this job in January. BLOODY UN-AUSTRALIAN if you ask me. Pretty sure the Geneva convention frowns on such acts.
I'm sure a lot of you out there share this issue, if not with WSFM but with another PURE GOLD NETWORK affiliated station. If so, please join me in telling them exactly how you feel. Or not, up to you really. You do you.
This is what I wrote:
Dear WSFM customer relations person,
I am a retail worker at a large chain, my employers have very mercifully allowed us to have the radio on in the store on the condition that WSFM is the only thing to be played. This is perfectly understandable and I personally feel the best choice of station given the environment.
BUT FOR THE LOVE OF BOWIE AND ALL THAT IS HOLY, CHANGE THE GODDAMN PLAY LIST!!!!
Im not sure how many petrol station mix CD's you guys are budgeted for but you need to change some things up a bit. SAME SONGS, SAME TIME, EVERY GOD DAMN DAY. It is sad that for a station that is supposed to play music from a period spanning 4 decades can only muster up a few dozen tracks and doesn't even have the decency to at least hit the shuffle button.
You are the cold un-seasoned mashed potato of radio stations; bland, unvarying and stagnant. Perfect for the toothless octogenarians that I assume you feel are your only listeners but a cruel punishment for anyone with a semi functioning long term memory.
I do not mean to offend, I am simply passionate about music and that passion has been repeatedly stifled though repetition. As I write this One Night in Bangkok is playing and to quote Murry himself "...It's a drag, it's a bore, it's really such a pity..."
