When you are planning in business you always do a trend study. A trend study of the past 5 years then do a 5 year projection to move ahead.
Politics is a lot like business. Running an organization has lot of similarities with running a country and forethought is a necessary quality in leadership.
Right now Ethiopia faces a challenge to move ahead. This challenge is the consequence of decisions made almost 45 years ago when certain people made proposals and started writing based on ideologies of ethnic federalism and actively promoted it. This lack of forethough is what drowns us in the current problem we are in. This realisation alone should hint to us with what care our next step must be taken unless we dont care at all. But i care so wth...
The current non-ethnic federalism proposes going back to the old provinical adminstrative system. This begs a question, why did it fall apart in the first place if it was the right kind of adminstration?
Obviously the fact that it failed points to a problem. And If confronted with a problem, the first step in solving it is to first pin point it or identify the problem and where it started.
And even go further back in history to see where most of the problems arose. If these were collected a pattern would emerge. And this is a pattern that should be avoided at all cost for the well being of the country.
So what brought about the issues and question regarding ethnic rights and where exactly did it start?? If you had a map and a watch this would first point you north wards then southwards. These issues arose mainly in what is now Tigrai and Eritrea, while Oromia came along for the ride taking an active part. What about other historical issues of the country where and how did they arise ?? Build a pattern.
The object of the non-federalism (non ethnic federalism) idea is to be rid of ethic issues. But does it fulfill the objective it promises??? How can it when Tigrai will be left intact as an ethnic?? Along with other smaller groups?? It was not Amhara that created the ethnic issue leading to all these problems. And most know such questions in Oromia arose through innitial instigation of the north.
So if your objective is to create a non-ethnic-obsessed Ethiopia why leave these ethnics intact?? It almost feels like its designed to benefit you. But that is not how it works if you are a true patriot. This is also why you would see those who specifically spat at the idea of non-ethnic federalism suddenly embracing it.
As justice has not been thoroughly served, this allows some to keep their benefits along with their stolen stash and reap the benefits out of other regional resources while the economy of the rest has been eroded by them.
