fellow Aussies lend me your knowledge, k-mart had these a year or so ago and dad nicked em / hes a fatass so they'r basically fucked - the new ones at kmart are just rubber with no dragons D:
consider it a public service to find me a set of these, I should have bought 5 pair when they had em ("Cinderealla - don't know what you got till it's gone" plays in the background)

Hi everyone!
I have 2 friends coming from London to visit Australia for 2 weeks 23/11 - 09/12 this year. It’s their first time ever visiting Australia. I’m Australian, but have only returned back to Brisbane 4 months ago after having been away for 7 years, so I’m not actually the best person when it comes to travel advice in Aus!
I’m drawing up a proposed itinerary for them, and I assumed they’d want to fly domestically everywhere. They’ve now suggested they’d like to drive from Brisbane - Melbourne, visiting places long the way of course. They’d be doing a 1 way car hire, so pick up in Brisbane and leave in Melbourne. I know they’re also keen to visit Cairns so this would need to be separate trip sometime within the 2 weeks they’re here.
Of course it’s their holiday and I want them to have the best time, and if a roadtrip is it then that’s great, but I want to give them the best advice possible so they really enjoy their stay. If I’m being honest, I’m not sure driving is the best idea given the fact they’re only here for 2 weeks and have never seen Australia before. I imagine there’s a lot of driving involved, would it rob them of spending quality time wherever they’re visiting? I’ve also read mixed reviews about this, some people deem it not worth it and that some of the drive is boring, but I do confess I absolutely see the appeal in a roadtrip so I’m really not sure.
I was just wondering what your thoughts are on this? Also any inputs on what the costing might look like for that would be really helpful, thanks a lot.
Edit: Someone keeps downvoting my comments. I’d love to know why! Again, I’m actually interested in hearing peoples thoughts on the matter because I’m really not sure. If you have reason to believe driving is a good idea then say please!

My partner is eligible for redundancy and her employer has been trying to screw her over. Her union , Australian Services Union has told her that they will not attend any meetings as it's too far. The guy she's been dealing with is in Sydney but we have a local branch.
Should they be sitting in on her negotiations around redundancy or is this above and beyond?

In February 2016 I bought an Acer Nitro Black Edition 15inch gaming laptop, it served me very well and I loved it til about mid 2017 where it started to have power issues eventually leading to it not powering on at all. I contacted Acer and they told me they could assess it and repair whatever the problem was for $289, under Australian law they have to fix to take the laptop and assess it and if no user fault is found repair it, replace it or refund me regardless of what their warranty says. They found a fault with the motherboard causing the power issues and so replaced the motherboard. When I got the laptop back, it was now having boot issues, it would boot to windows on battery power, but not with the charger plugged in. I contacted Acer again and they sent a courier to collect it to fix the problem. After 2 weeks of no contact at all they inform me they can not fix the problem and so will refund the cost of the original repair and send me back my broken laptop.
Today I received the laptop and now it does not power on at all, no lights, no nothing. PC gaming is my only hobby, I am disabled and its very hard for me to move so my laptop is my god send when I have attacks and need to stay in bed for weeks at a time. I called Acer and they said I was out of the 12 month warranty so they had no obligation to fix it, this is very very untrue under Australian law, but its going to take weeks and possibly a VCAT hearing to ever get a resolution and I'm without my only outlet and hobby until then because I will never be able to raise enough money for a new computer. I'm going to spread this post as far across the internet as I can so people in Australia know that Acer do not stand by their products and they actively ignore Australian consumer law. I have submitted my case to the ACCC and they have advised me to seek a VCAT hearing, which I have done.
TL:DR My Acer laptop had a fault, Acer admitted it, repaired the device then broke it harder and now wash their hands of me and my laptop.
Morale of the story, next time you're looking for a laptop, steer clear of Acer, they can't even source parts of a 2 year old top of the line premium laptop they built.
