U.S. stock futures pointed to a higher open this morning, following Friday's selloff that wiped out last week's gains. It also left the Dow near breakeven for the year, ahead of this afternoon's IBM (IBM) earnings release. Morgan Stanley (MS) continues the parade of financial earnings this morning.

Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley is said to be in talks to pay $500 million tosettle an investigation by New York's attorney general into the sale of mortgage bonds which lost value during the financial crisis. (WSJ)

China stocks surrendered early gains and turned lower today, as fears of aregulatory crackdown offset a bold Chinese central bank move Sunday to bolster the slowing economy.

Oil rose this morning, extending last week's gains, as a drop of U.S. rigs drilling for crude pointed to lower supply later in the year. But analysts questioned the sustainability of the recent bump in prices. (Reuters)

Comcast (CMCSA) and Time Warner Cable (TWC) are preparing to meet Justice Department officials this week to discuss competition concerns raised by the planned $45-billion merger of the two cable giants. (WSJ)
