I lost my prescription sunglasses a couple of weeks ago and went to my local OPSM to get a replacement. I mainly use them for running and cycling.

They showed me a pair of Oakley's Flax that were around $200. Then they start taking me through the lenses options: $450 for the basic ones, extra $100 for polarised, another $100 or so if I want them anti-scratch, an another $150 for something else. All up, it was over $1,100!

Then she says they have an offer "just this week" for $100 off your first pair and 50% off the second. That got me thinking, if you can do 50% off a pair, they must get them for 20% or less, so I said thank you and left.

Then I went to the Australian Oakely website and saw you can buy prescription sunglasses online. I configured exactly the same thing and it came up at $650 with free shipping! Even with the insurance payment it's way more expensive than at OPSM. I'm guessing they just double the prices to swallow the insurance benefits for themselves and to allow for their ridiculous "offers".

So... does anyone know of the best option to purchase prescription sports glasses in Australia?
