I am a Canadian University student (male, white). Two summers ago I visited Japan, it was a truly amazing experience in a beautiful country. While I was there, I was treated with nothing but respect and friendliness from the locals. I recently, scheduled a work term in China for 2022 year. I want to learn more about Asia and explore its vast and ancient history, however, I have recently been seeing a lot of content online about nationals not really liking foreigners.
I am aware there are several nicknames for white males traveling in Asia, such as "loser back home" and "white monkey". Is this a growing sentiment in Asia? I am wondering if I could get the perspective of an Asian person. What do you usually think when you meet a white foreigner who is interested in learning more about your culture? Note: I have been learning Mandarin for 6 months and have passed the HSK-1 and HSK-2 exams.
Hi everyone! I need your help! I'm working on a project for my International Politics class about The Importance of Water and we are mostly lacking Asian point of views. It takes only 2 minutes and your help will be really appreciated! THANK YOU! https://forms.gle/ChC6UYivnexRyj979
