Tell me why we don't refer to TV as the idiot box anymore? It seams like the yesteryear might have been on to something.
I’ve spent the last year in an essentially constant mental health crisis and have been let down at every corner. I’ve been in contact with the acute mental health care team for my area who are literally worse than useless and could provide no help at all, to the point that I don’t know why they exist in the first place. I have had the same experience with the mental health line. I’ve had an ambulance called for me when I was acutely suicidal only to be quite literally abused by the paramedic to the point of now having a phobia of ambulances and paramedics, and I wasn’t even admitted to the psych ward when I got to hospital and instead spent a hellish night in the ED. I’ve had a private psychiatrist literally give up on me, like literally stop treating me without referring me to someone else and just taking away my prescription medication in the process. I’ve tried to find other psychiatrists only for them to be booked out or be quoted literally $500 for one session. I’ve gone to a private psych ward this year only to see the psychiatrist once a week, having to get the psychiatrist to literally “apply” for me to see a psychologist and having the nurses literally ignore me 99% of the time, even when I was having a mental breakdown and sobbing for hours at a time, and the only reason I was lucky enough to have that experience was because I am still young enough to be counted under my parents private hospital cover. I tried to get to a public psych ward tonight that I’ve been to before for an overnight stay only to be told there’s probably no beds, you’ll have to wait in the ED for hours to maybe be assessed so we can probably tell you to just go home again. I am literally at the end of my rope, I am just being let down by both the private and public systems over and over again and I know I’m not the only one. Sorry if this isn’t allowed here...
I was fascinated by the outback as described in this book.
Just wondering if it's a realistic protrayal of living in the outback. If not, how close is it to real life?
