It took me 18 months and 3 centrelink interviews to get the Disability Support Pension (DSP).

The reason I was rejected was because I did not understand exactly what needed to be done by my GP and specialist, and what to say in the interview process.

In order to successfully get a DSP, Centrelink assessors have to determine that you meet or exceed 20 points on an impairment rating scale.

One reason why many people don't know about this is because I suspect that assessors and other centrelink personnel are explicitly ordered not to reveal it. This means that the assessors do genuinely want to help, but have their hands tied.
