Hi, I am a new US graduate with a PhD who has been hired as a researcher by one of G-8 uni. I signed my contract in February. Uni sponsored and submitted my visa 186 application by end of April. I have been checking my application anxiously every day. The processing time changed from 4-5 to 6-8 months, and the status of my application is still "Received". It has not been assessed. I am worried that the processing time changes again and I cannot get my visa by end of year or later because my Uni sent a variation letter stating my offer will be expired if I could not get into Australia by Feb 1, 2021. Do you think I will get my visa on time? I am afraid a PR visa is not a priority for the govt. I cannot find any information on the statistics (# of visa 186 issued) for 2020 anywhere. I do appreciate any suggestions or information.
I couldn't really find anything describing the process as to what is was like. Just curious as to the difference it was to now
Moved into a new house at the start of this year, the house has a relatively large study which I've turned into a hybrid nerd den and herpetarium. First few warmer days are coming around now and its made me realize how much this room is going to struggle in Summer.
Heating has been fine due to a ducted system but the house only has one aircon unit which doesn't quite have the power to keep the whole house cool due to pretty poor insulation and lots of windows.
The reptiles each need their specific temp ranges which means I can't upset the ambient temperature too much without it impacting them, at the same time I don't want to be thermal throttling my new 3090 when I play a game or too.
I was looking at the "portable" aircons but you'd still need an exhaust of sorts wouldn't you?
We'll eventually get another in wall aircon installed, maybe two, however we'd need to do a little planning as I also wish to setup some larger indoor custom enclosures for some of the reptiles.
What temporary solutions do you guys have for keeping rooms cool on the nasty days? Wondering if I should like circulate air with some fans from the living room where the aircon is down to the study.
So I made the mistake of buying a boost mobile prepaid sim and now 2 weeks on from requesting activation and not getting anything I'm ready to move on with my life. I can't get through to talk to anyone, their phone system keeps sending me back to the website which is no help.
Does anyone know how I might extricate myself from this situation and get a refund?
