Megabox, a South Korean multiplex operator, is set to reopen 11 theaters this week after shutting them down for about a month amid the coronavirus pandemic. The number of moviegoers declined to a record low of 1.83 million in March, compared with 14.67 million from the same period last year.
The South Korean government is set to spend 12.2 trillion won ($10.1 billion) as a disaster relief fund for all Koreans to boost the sluggish economy affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The amount of money Koreans will receive depends on the size of the family: $828 for families with four or more people; $662.6 for families with three people; $496.9 for families with two people and $331.3 for single-person households.
93.8% of 96 South Korean auto parts companies say they are suffering from a liquidity crisis, mainly affected by a decline in sales due to low demand amid the coronavirus pandemic.
