This just in from my daughter's primary school:
If a student is absent due to needing to self-isolate due to one or more of the following reasons, their days absent from school will not negatively affect their attendance records.
• Returned from overseas and directed to self-isolate for 14 days
• Quarantined overseas and directed to self-isolate for 14 days
• Absent due to the student or family member having a compromised immune system
• Absent due to the student having a vulnerable person in the family
• Student is diagnosed with COVID-19

Hi all,
Not sure if this is the best place to post but my wife's company just called and told her she is not needed while on maternity leave.
The interesting thing is they said because the company is a small business under 20 employees they don't need to pay anything.
Is this right?
I found on fair trading it says a business must pay the notice period but nothing about the small business thing.
Anyone know the answer to this.

Not sure if this is the place to post this...but anyone w some advice?
Just got told today that my place of work will be closing until further notice; so that is now all of my shifts i was supposed to get this month, gone (i was supposed to work 21st- till end of month).
My other job is in a club/restaurant; today we had new health rules in placed, but i also heard that most likely by the end of this week because of all of these new restrictions, we could be shutting down there until further notice as well.
I am only a casual worker (at both my jobs), so obviously I receive no support during this closure. I'm am genuinely worried about how I am going to afford anything for these next few months...
I heard that if you are affected, you can apply for 'Jobseeker' at centrelink....but do you know if they still force you to apply for 'x' amount of jobs in the meantime? (Which, i don't see the point in that if everything is closed.), or do they only allow you to apply if you have the virus?
Once things settle down I will (hopefully) be able to return to my work anyways, but who knows when that'll be.. in the meantime I don't know what to do lol. Anyone else have had their place of work close?

All Coles and Woolworths are completely drained of meat, veg and essentials within a 20km radius. My aunty in a more rural area is complaining about people from the city coming in by the dozens on busses to do their grocery shopping in her town.
Can you panicked morons please stop filling your fridges and second freezers so I can buy something to cook my family dinner? If the virus takes you out you won't be able to eat anyway, and if it doesnt you can still shop like a normal person. Thanks

Anyone else recently start receiving spam emails from Rupert? Can't even opt out unless you deactivate your account, even though I never fucking made one.

The time for action is now: our union urges schools to bring holidays forward if COVID-19 can't be managed
Holiday break should be brought forward if our employers can’t manage COVID-19
The time for action is now – our union is calling on all school employers to either commit to immediate new safety and employee welfare measures – or extend the school holiday period to minimise the unacceptable risk of contagion in our schools.
Our employers have so far failed to confirm desperately needed hygiene and leave arrangements. Our schools are being placed on the frontline responding to this health emergency with inadequate resources.
In the absence of the employers’ urgent commitment to new safety measures and special leave – we must move to an earlier Easter school vacation break.
Read our latest media statement calling for schools to bring forward the school holiday break if employers can't manage COVID-19.Employers unable or unwilling to confirm appropriate arrangements Our union has received limited and woefully inadequate responses from employers to our formal request earlier this week to confirm a number of critical matters. The vast majority of employers have yet to respond at all.
