The phone call that could get Trump impeached
VietPress USA (Dec, 9, 2019): Impeachment, the equivalent of being indicted, is part of the Constitution and conducted by the U.S. House of Representatives. The House, in essence, decides whether there’s enough evidence for an official to be tried by the Senate.
In the past 222 years, 19 U.S. officials have faced impeachment. Eight were found guilty and removed from office, seven were acquitted, and three resigned. Charges were dismissed in one case.
A Trump impeachment promises to be a rancorous partisan affair, with a Democratic-controlled House willing to impeach and a Republican-majority Senate unlikely to render a guilty verdict with a two-thirds majority.
But today USA TODAY reported that The Democratic controlled House will announce Articles of President Donald Trump impeachment on Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2019.
Democrats plan to announce the articles in a morning news conference, a senior Democratic aide told USA TODAY, who would not detail what the specific articles contain, only that there are "less than five" articles in total.

Trump impeachment: House Democrats to announce articles of impeachment Tuesday
WASHINGTON – House Democrats will announce articles of impeachment on Tuesday, outlining the case against President Donald Trump in a historic move that has only been taken a few times throughout our nation's history.
Democrats plan to announce the articles in a morning news conference, a senior Democratic aide told USA TODAY, who would not detail what the specific articles contain, only that there are "less than five" articles in total.
The articles are expected to revolve around Trump requesting Ukraine to investigate matters that would help him politically, including the 2016 election and former Vice President Joe Biden, a 2020 rival.
Through weeks of investigating, Democrats have outlined a scheme in which Trump withheld both nearly $400 million in congressionally-approved military aid and a key White House meeting from Ukraine if the country did not move on the investigations.
Nixon, Clinton, Trump:Why is the political 'fire extinguisher' of impeachment more common?
The announcement follows an all-day hearing in which the House Judiciary Committee heard from lawyers for the Intelligence Committee — Daniel Goldman for the Democrats and Stephen Castor for the Republicans — where the pair of attorneys presented reports on findings in the Ukraine matter and fielded questions from lawmakers.
