If the fires are getting close you can pick up contents insurance with AAMI for $20-50 a month. They also have a fire and theft contents insurance but I didn't look into it.
Fires have a 72 hrs wait after taking out a policy that wont be covered. There's a 21 day cooling off period, I think they refund you if you cancel but I'm not sure. Cancellation outside of the cooling off period is $30. fee
For me it was $35 and I'd prefer just not have to worry about it.

I bought a fairly high quality business shirt about 6 months ago. It got worn once a week, but started to fall apart and discolour despite normal washing.
Took it back to the retailer I purchased it from (which was a specific outlet for that brand) showed them, on a $70 shirt I expected some sympathy after what was maybe 20 wears tops.
The staff were very rude and basically told me once it was worn it was non refundable. I tried to raise the fact it should have some sort of warranty and they got a very sarcastic smile, told me I was washing it wrong and walked away mid conversation.
I know all goods have to be fit for use in Australia, that strikes me as clothing too.

For example, if the local 7-11 is selling unleaded at 180.9 and I have locked it at 150.9, does it mean the local servo will not have any “compensation” from 7-11 corporate about the “lost” 30cents per litre?
Just curious on how it works from the corporate side
