Our household has been dealing with incredibly slow and unstable internet for the past 2-3 months mostly during peak hours and it’s unbearable. Over those months, my mum has been on the phone with Telstra many times about this issue.
They’ve sent us a new modem, sent out a technician that has confirmed there’s an issue with the signal, etc.
That technician said it was a level 2 issue or whatever and that they’d resolve the issue within the next week or so.
After that week, my mum called again and asked if they’d actually done anything because even after they said it was fixed, I noticed no improvements. They said to my mum that we either put up with it or just switch to another provider. Just to clarify, my mum has been with Telstra for 20 years and this is how they treat her.
This past week, the unstable internet has been an issue all throughout the day. I get why peak hours can be bad, but last year our internet wasn’t as terrible during peak hours. Telstra claim a lot of new people have joined them in our suburb and that’s why. But our ping fluctuates between 13ms and 1000ms and even higher.
Can anything be done or will we have to just wait it out until NBN comes here? Which Telstra don’t even know when NBN will be available in my area.
Edit: we’ve also been taking screenshots of speed tests as proof. And every day I watch my ping on Discord and it’s rarely ever stable.

I have asked across every major city in their respective subreddits (Except for Darwin, not sure if they have one) what their best public toilet is. Now I want to hear from all of Australia, what do think you is the best public toilet that this beautiful country has to offer?

As if applying for rentals isn't a painful enough process already, here are some reasons why 1form is terrible:
- The site straight up doesn't work if you have ad blockers turned on. Shifty as. Leading to point 2...
- You have to give these guys ALL of your personal information and trust that they won't misuse it. Full name, date of birth, relationship status, and copies of your driver's licence or passport. Obviously some of this is required for an application but I'm really uncomfortable handing this much info over to a company who has such a crap site and poor handle on privacy. Specifically, point 3:
- They completely ignore your requests and communication preferences and misuse your info. I ticked "I WOULD NOT like to be contacted by Foxie (utility broker) to set up my utilities" because fuck that, I can do it myself and ensure I get the best deal. Didn't matter a bit, because the next day I got 2 missed calls, 2 voicemails, 2 texts and an email from this Foxie mob saying they'd received my details and were ready to sign me up. Foxie also don't have an unsubscribe option on their email which is illegal. Who knows who else my info has been given to.
- They encourage you to pay them $29 to be a "certified quality tenant". Straight up bribery.
