Hi! I'm looking for some tips and lifehacks about living in Australia. Coming from a central European culture I'm not sure what to expect. So if you've moved around yourself you might have some insight I'd otherwise not have thought of.
Some info about me: I'm 24, male and I do have Aussie citizenship, I've just never actually been to Australia.
Anyway, here are some topics off the top of my head:
Socialising: I don't know anyone in Australia, where would you suggest I go to socialise? I have this idea of an Aussie bar and just start chatting to people, but it might just be the influence of movies.
Food: I need meat in my diet, If I'm eating a meal that doesn't contain meat, I feel like I'm failing my body; so what are some affordable options, and could you give me price estimates? I've heard Australia has more sheep than people, so does that mean mutton is super cheap? I think I heard once you guys have tons of lamb too
Transport: is it true that if you live in Melbourne you can get by just fine on a bicycle? Living in the city has allowed me to never need a car where I'm currently staying, and it's a huge financial burden off my shoulders.
Employment: How much time should I expect to be looking for a job for? I figured that for starters I'd work in just about anything that I can live on (preferably something where I can interact with people), and then move on to my field (tourism) when the chance presents itself.
Anything else I haven't thought of like dealing with bugs, choosing an affordable beer that isn't piss etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
