Apologies if this isn't the right sub for this. I have been looking for a job for a while now and the job hunt finally seems to be over (I'm hesistant to celebrate as I don't have an offer in writing just yet). I've been told by the in-house recruitment guy that I'm perfect for the job and all we needed to do from there was to iron out the red tape before an offer can be made which includes a National Police Check.
I gave my required info to the agency they nominated last night and I was notified this morning by them that the potential employer has approved the payment for the check and that they were able to verify my identity to their satisfaction however my Police Check result failed to come back instantly.
Apparently about 70% of all check requests come back straight away and that it may take up to 10 business days to return a result as it will now need to be checked manually. They gave various reasons why this happens which all seem reasonable to me but I have some worries about how long the results will take to come back. The new job starts on the 23rd, only 5 business days away and without the police check coming back they won't employ me as they recruit groups of people at a time and train them all together
Has anyone here had a similar situation in regards to the Police Check failing to come back straight away and, if so, how long did it take for the result to come back after that? Things have been really shit lately and missing out on this job thanks to some stupid red tape would be on theme for how this year has been going so I'm hoping to here most people get them back pretty quick or at least be prepared for the worst
