Hi everyone!
First, I'm not sure if this is the right place, and if not, I'll take this post down, but in essence, my job is that my boss will occasionally point me at an area and assess potential risks associated with the area. (Normally, I'm given a specific country, but this time, it's the Middle East in general, which I realize is an extremely broad area with a huge number of cultures, so I'm trying to get the opinions of as many locals from as many areas within the Middle East as I can) My preferred method of getting ahold of information that can't simply be Googled is to ask people who are personally familiar with the area, so if you guys don't mind answering some questions, I would very much appreciate it! (You guys will probably be seeing me make similar posts in subreddits specific to countries, feel free to say hi!)
1. Which area(s) in the Middle East are you familiar enough that you'd be comfortable answering questions about?
2. What kinds of safety concerns are there that are specific to the area? (ie, Heat, sandstorms, political/religious extremism, credit card skimmers, etc)
3. Are there areas that American travelers, specifically, should avoid?
4. In order to be more respectful, are there specific topics, other than religion or politics, to avoid mentioning, or topics that are cultural sensitive spots?
5. Are people in general, in your opinion, welcoming to Americans?
6. What sorts of foods that are unique to the area that you'd recommend?
7. What is the general perception of American culture and American businesses in the area(s) you're familiar with?
