So, I get an email from my ISP:
NBN Co have identified that your service is connected to a Wireless cell that is currently experiencing congestion, with estimated typical evening speeds of >6 Mbps. This congestion means that activities like browsing, streaming or gaming might have been and could continue to be slower than promised, especially when multiple people or devices are using the internet at the same time.
*Please select from the following options:
Change providers with no contract break fee ... within 10 working days from the date of this email or the Remain Option will apply.
You can also choose to remain on your current plan*
Important things to note
If you choose to change providers, your maximum speed may not change
So I ring my ISP and ask them if the problem is contention on their backhaul or NBN backhaul. How can I make an informed decision without knowing that? They have no idea. NBN won't release that information. I can't talk directly to NBN. In order to do anything I have to do all these speed tests. My ISP can't even lodge a fault unless I do speed tests first. Speed tests that are not simple and NBN already knows the data. Why do I have to do NBN's work for them?
Also why a time limit on the change?
Grrrr!
