On behalf of the Italian country, I apologize to all those tourists that come into our country to visit museums and other things related to our history and stuff. Most of the time I imagine you don't even understand what's written in your own language on captions or directions and general information signs.
The average Italian sucks really bad at translating things for you, guys. It really does.
But what's worst is that we don't want to pay an expert to do such thing. We'll instead ask our cousin that knows a person which is married with the sister of an expert's uncle. So of course, our cousin is good in foreign languages!
I'm managing the multimedia aspect of an exhibition for a museum (a really cool museum about one of the coolest things we make here in Italy) and I'm cringing reading the multi language translations of all the captions that will be displayed under the objects. I'm far from speaking English correctly, but even I can tell when a translation sucks that bad.
Again, sorry. I can't stand watching that kind of things to happen on a professional environment.
