Honest question, Why do you think that cartoon pornography depicting children is illegal in Australia?
I am someone who doesn't consume it and Ican understand that people may think it is gross. But I legitimately cannot think of a reason why it is declared illegal other than the slippery slope argument which is quite debunkable. As I see it there are no victims to this crime unless of course child voice actors are used. Do you think ink on paper needs protection?
Why do you think people possesing porn of lisa simpson have been convicted as sex offenders? Please share your thoughts so I might understand.
Edit: removed the point about Lisa Simpson being over 18 as it was fixating argument on that rather than the reasoning behind the law.

Hi Guys,
Just wondering if anyone has insight, was at a T intersection in a busy Melbourne suburb waiting to turn left. All of a sudden bang, a cyclist has crashed into the side of my car, he was speeding down the footpath with no helmet and crocs on, he landed on the bonnet and did decent damage to front left side. I understand usually when your not at fault the excess is waived, however this person did not speak English, and with the help of the police & a bystander who spoke Chinese, it turns out the cyclist has been in Australia for 3 days on a bridging visa, has no fixed adress but has a mobile number that we confirmed works. He would likely have no insurance, and will now have to pay for his ambulance cost as well. Will I likely have my excess waived or am I out of luck cause he won’t be able to pay?
Thanks!

The movement started in paris is spreading worldwide to protest draconian policies that only benefit the higher up in society. Are there any plans to start these kinds of protests in Australia?

Hi Everyone, I’ve posted about me and my wife’s situation here before, and think the time has come to sue Peter Dutton and the Home Affairs department directly:
But TLDR:
I'm a 5th generation Australian who was forced to move to NZ with my wife (now pregnant due in July) of 3 years due to the ridiculously long, and costly partner visa processing times that were deliberately imposed by Dutton and Morrion. Why is their a backlog of 80,000 partner visas needed to be processed? My rights as an Australian citizen are below that of skilled migrants and their families simply because big business always get their way with this government. If I could renounce my Australian citizenship, and apply for a skilled visa (I'm an Actuary) my wife and family would be in Australia in less than a month. I’m stuck in NZ for at least another year due to the processing times and my handicap of being born in Australia.
By desire to sue them is due to the fact that the Home Affairs department is not complying with the Migration Act with respect to Spouse Visas for Australian citizens. Abul Rizvi, who the media consults for immigration issues (was on ABC the drum recently, former immigration deputy secretary, writes for SMH on immigration issues) has described this issue as the biggest scandal currently engulfing the home affairs department:
In particular, the Home affairs department claims that partner visas are capped, as per the following release (Only 39,799) partner visas are allowed to be granted this financial year according to them:
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/what-we-do/migration-program-planning-levels
https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/what-we-do/migration-program-planning-levels
However, section 87 of the migration act clearly states that Partner visas are demand driven, with the legislation explicitly stating that visas cannot be capped for spouses of Australian citizens:
MIGRATION ACT 1958 - SECT 87

We have been renting at this property (1940s home) for the past year and have just extended our lease for another year. We are bloody good tenants: they never have to worry about the place not being well kept or noise complaints. We always end up having to wait a month or more for them to get back to us unless it’s something like an emergency issue with the plumbing but they still need a push even for that.
It took them two months to contact the landlord and find out whether they wanted to extend the lease. Agent just said “it’s on my calls list” every time we followed up with her.
So recently we asked the agents if we could put in a dishwasher and new stove (with our own money) because the single sink is a pain and the stove they have here is shiteful. It’s only been a week surely it can’t be too hard to just message back and say something. Even just, “Hey we’ve received your message and will get back to you when we can get in contact with the landlords”. Nil responses just bug me. Does anyone else have these troubles? What do you do to get their attention??
