So tried to get my new medicare card a few weeks ago when was in Oz and couldn't get one as was heading back overseas - yes, should have lied... Anyway, now back overseas and wanting to Opt-Out and the info I was given in Oz saying in my situation I could easily do it over the phone without a card was, and now according to the MHR phone line that info was 100% wrong - I suspect I am being given the run around to have one less opt-out.
Anyway, does anyone know how to opt-out without a current Medicare card? Also the phone operator, and most likely not being honest, says that without a current card, my records wouldn't go on. Does anyone know how true that is?
