I get deliveries off 3 main Auspost people because we live in between two depots (I assume this is why).
One delivers early, without fail - he will knock at 8am, greet me by name and be the grandfathery sunshine in my morning. I cannot speak highly enough of him. He has been top notch for the past 6 years and I love seeing his smiling face.
The second courier delivers in the afternoons - usually between 4 - 5pm, usually a 20/80 chance she will knock - 20 being the not knocking option. Usually this one sends the message in the morning asking to confirm if we will be home, even when we respond with 'yes' she still won't knock, we will simply get the available for pickup notification.
BEGIN RANT:
The third, drives the Evie bike (mailman / small packages) and without fail, every single time, he will not knock.
I thought my husband just missed the knock every single time (he works from home) but a few times i've been home myself and thought I too was missing the knock. My husbands solution recently has been to keep an eye out and open the door when the postie walks up rather than wait for the non-existant knock to occur.
Well, today i'm home studying and out of curiosity decided to watch what the postie does. He rode right up the driveway, stood on my porch 30cm from my door, made the beepy machine scan/beep THEN WALKED BACK TO HIS BIKE & LEFT. He sure as shit managed to leave a delivery slip in my letter box though.
This would be simple enough if it was due to hot weather and he gave everyone a slip to get it over with - i empathise with that. But why make the conscious effort to stand on my doorstep and then tell me I wasn't home!?
Has anyone ever complained to Auspost? My 8am deserves every bit of praise and I will give it when i provide feedback but i don't know his name and I sure don't want to discredit him.
The other two need to up their game and do their job.
