VietPress USA (Oct. 4, 2018):
Hundreds of demonstrators filled the atrium of the Hart Senate Office Building in Washington on October 4 to protest the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and show support for survivors of sexual assault.
Police had shut down the Capitol Building in advance of the protest, prompting participants to gather in the Hart building instead, according to Women’s March.
This footage, shared by Women’s March, shows protesters filling several floors of the atrium, chanting anti-Kavanaugh slogans and waving banners expressing support for Kavanaugh’s accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, and all survivors of sexual assault.
Retired Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens said Thursday that he does not support the confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Kavanaugh “had the qualifications” to be a Supreme Court justice but his behavior at a hearing last week ― where he defended himself against allegations of sexual assault by blaming Democrats seeking “revenge on behalf of the Clintons” ― was inappropriate and disqualifying, Stevens said.
“His performance in the hearings changed my mind,” Stevens said, the Palm Beach Post first reported. “The senators should pay attention to this.”
