VietPress USA (July 4th, 2018): US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo today on Thursday July 5th, 2018, just made his third visit trip to North Korea as the Trump administration continues talks to get Pyongyang to give up its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs. On last Tuesday, the U.S. State Department said Pompeo would depart Thursday on his third trip to North Korea before visiting Japan, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates and Belgium, where he will accompany President Donald Trump at the NATO summit.
The United States has a plan that would lead to the dismantling of North Korea's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs in a year, Trump's national security adviser said, though US intelligence reported signs that Pyongyang doesn't intend to fully give up its arsenal. On last Saturday, June 30, 2018, North Korea announced that it is keeping nuclear program alive.
Pompeo will visit Vietnam at the right period that Vietnamese people have rallied against Communist Party and Communist Government ove the bill of leasing out 3 economic zones to China for 99 years; and the Cyber Network Security Law.
Today on July 5, 2018, Hanoi announced that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Vietnam on July 8-9, 2018.
This will be Pompeo's first trip to Vietnam after taking office as Secretary of State, said Ngo Toan Thang, vice spokesperson of the Vietnamese Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Pompeo's visit is expected to help strengthen the strategic partnership in various spheres like politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, national defence and overcoming consequences of the war, Thang was quoted as saying by Xinhua news agency.
