So the Kogan TV I bought in Jan 2016 decided to take up smoking the other day. Kogan have advised me that they won't be paying for repairs as it is out of their 12 month warranty. Now to me a TV would reasonably be expected to last more than 2yrs and 5 months. A failure in the remote or something, possible, but not to start smoking up as I'm watching it. I think the consumer law would agree with me here, any advice how to proceed? My plan is to look up the law and quote them on the reasonable lifetime stuff and see how we go from there.

Hi All,
Hoping someone here can help me - we recently had the NBN box installed in the security room at the apartment I live in.
Unfortunately, as its mounted directly on the wall, at night, the noise of the whirring machines inside are traveling along the wall and can be heard in our bedroom - loud enough to just disturb our sleep.
I've contacted NBN, and as expected, its sat a week with the 'relevant team' with no contact. I've made a complaint since, but wanted to know if installing the box directly against the wall is standard practice?
Any tips on getting this resolved, as from what I've read, NBNCo are committed to not giving two shits about people.

Im going on a surf trip in Australia, Sydney/Melborne, i have a question about buying and driving a car (Im 17)
Hey, im 17 and from israel, i got my driver's license around 2 months ago and im planning a surf trip, im probably gonna fly there in around 2-3 months, and gonna stay for that amount aswell.
I was planning to buy a van/station wagon, and im wondering about driving there, am i legally allowed to drive ? do i need to do something before im allowed ? like make a special license or whatever ?
Im really worried this might cancel my trip, so please give me some details about this, since i always thought you can only drive in other countries(not israel) from the age of 21 (or 24?) but this only applies if you rent a car, not buy one.

Hi. I live in Sydney. I’m doing my HSC right now, and my goal is to get into law school. Unfortunately, my grades are lacking. My English grades are exceptional, but the rest of my grades (maths, biology, food technology and visual arts) are just OK. I’m losing sleep stressing out over my HSC, and I’m constantly anxious about being yelled at by my parents when I don’t get the ATAR necessary to get into law school. Hopefully, I can get into law school by applying through early entry. How difficult is it to get into early entry? I’m planning on applying to every university I can. My sister is trying to reassure me that I should get early entry (she got early entry despite her grades being average), but I was wondering what everyone on here thought.

Few questions relating to work rights at a man ASX 200 company I work for (IT Support Role) Any advice or input would be much appreciated.
Hi fellow Aussies. As mentioned above I have a few questions relating to some working rights as I believe my team is being treated unfairly by our management team. I really want to know if these below ‘rules’ ect are legal and how they should be treated.
- Employees are NOT able to take a bathroom break within 30 minutes of having their scheduled lunch break or 30 minutes within starting and finishing shifts. We work 12 hour shifts and have 2 30 minute breaks, 1 of which is paid.
- Employees are not able to take a bathroom break if someone else is on their lunch break. We usually have 3-5 people working a day shift.
- Arrive to work 10 minutes prior to your shift otherwise receive a file note, then documented discussion, then first and final warning. This is regardless if you have started early on another day or stayed back all unpaid.
- Mandatory 2 hour monthly unpaid meeting
Breaking any of the above rules can lead to documented discussions. I know it’s kind of irrelevant but I have to mention our supervisors and managers tend to start late and finish early on a frequent basis.
Thanks all
