President Obama addressed the American people this morning regarding a U.S. counterterrorism operation that occurred in January.
In his statement, the President expressed our grief and condolences to the families of two hostages -- Dr. Warren Weinstein, an American, and Giovanni Lo Porto, an Italian -- who were tragically killed in a January counterterrorism operation. The President directed that the information being shared today be declassified, and asked the American people to keep Dr. Weinstein's and Mr. Lo Porto's families in their thoughts and prayers.
