A FRENCH MP has died after she collapsed on stage during a campaign speech for the country’s presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron.
Corrine Erhel, 50, was rushed to hospital after she fell to the ground while speaking from the platform at the event in Plouisy in western France yesterday but she later died.
Corrine Erhel had been a member of the Socialist Party before joining Macron’s En Marche! party in 2016Ms Ehrel, who became a MP for a part of northern Brittany in 2007, had been a staunch supporter of Emmanuel Macron, having left the Socialist party to join his En Marche! movement in 2016.
Macron himself released a statement on social media paying tribute to the MP, saying: “Shaken by the death of Corinne Erhel, who was with us since the the start.
“Thoughts for her family and friends.”
Her death came just two days before the second and final round of voting in the French presidential elections.
